New Phone System
Update Wednesday 10th October 2018:
We successfully moved phone systems on Thursday 23rd August 2018.
However, due to some issues with our supplier, there were a few 'teething' problems that took longer to resolve than we expected. We have been working closely with the supplier and now feel the phone system is setup as we intended. We don't foresee any further problems, but accept that there may be the odd issue or two out of our control. We will work to resolve these quickly and efficiently.

Patient SMS Messaging Service (MJOG)
We are pleased to announce that a new patient SMS messaging service was installed at the Practice on Monday 19th June 2017. This automatically sends a text to our Patient's mobile number a week before the appointment and then a reminder the day before the appointment. This system also allows two way interactive communications between you and the Practice to make cancelling appointments easier.
We are also able to send targeted health information and questionnaires to individual patients, which will hopefully help them manage chronic long term conditions better and help us to keep medical records up to date and accurate.
This system enables us to send text message reminders to patients who have an appointment. The patient can then text back to cancel the appointment if they no longer need it. This should help enormously in cutting down on our wasted appointments each month.

Weight Watchers free scheme
Hampshire County Council and Weight Watchers are working together to provide free membership.
To qualify for the FREE programme you need to be over 18 years of age and have a BMI of 30 or above. You can find out your BMI with the Weight Watchers calculator or just give them a call and they can help.

Get Hampshire Walking
GPs in west Hampshire are supporting a campaign to get people walking more.
Physical activity has a positive impact on health and happiness and even small changes can make a big difference.
Sitting for long periods of time can cause premature aging and diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia and depression. The only thing that can prevent this damage is being more active!
Walking is also a great opportunity to meet new people and help with your mental as well as physical health. Getting out and meeting people face to face helps with local connections, provides opportunities to get to know your neighbourhood better and to make new friends.
And it’s not all about big walks in the country, or walking lots of miles. You can start at your own pace, with a few minutes of additional walking and then increase this over time. You could walk to the shops, get off the bus a stop earlier or park the car further away from work. All these things can help increase your activity levels and will have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing.
If you’ve not been very active, you can speak to your GP or practice nurse about how you can increase the amount of walking you do every day and they can give you advice about what is appropriate for you.

Attendance/Non-Attendance by Patients
In the month of NOVEMBER, 254 appointments were not attended which equated to 28.5 Hours of GP, Nurse and Health Care Assistant time was wasted due to patients not attending their appointments.
Please make sure you cancel any appointments that you no longer need in good time so that they may be offered to another patient.
You are able to cancel your appointment on line or by leaving a message "Option 4" when calling the surgery.

We are no longer taking prescription requests over the telephone.
